Justin Bieber Talks 'Never Say Never'

'It's been so much fun to be able to live my dream,' singer says on 'Today' show.

Justin Bieber is on press rounds promoting his 3-D movie "Never Say Never," out next weekend. He appeared on the "Today" show, where he sat down with Matt Lauer to talk about the film and how it chronicles his rise to fame.

"Not just that I've been working hard, just showing what I've been going through and how much it takes out of you. It's been so much fun to be able to live my dream," he said, with a crowd of screaming fans watching.

The film is part concert film, part documentary, and his fans play a big role in it. Bieber said that the part in the film where he gives away tickets to his fans is his favorite. "I love that part. It's one of my favorite parts because everyone gets happy. It makes everyone happier. You go in the back and you give them tickets ... it's amazing."

Bieber explained that while his rise to fame was no accident, he had no idea it would be this meteoric or epic. "It was crazy because I started out posting videos online and not wishing for anything and then this all happened really fast," he said. "I've been playing music since I can remember. It's such a big part of my life and I want that to be shown, especially in my movie."

Sure, Bieber is busy being a pop star, but he says that he makes sure that in addition to working hard, he gets some time to play hard. "Well, I make sure I have at least one day off a week. I need one day of downtime. The rest of the week is all jam-packed. I have to have at least one day," he said. "It's hard because I'm away from my family, like, my brother and sister. You only live once, but at the same time, by brother and sister are going to grow up and they're going to be proud of me."

These days Bieber's other big challenge is puberty. "My voice is definitely changing, gradually," he said. "It's how you go through it. I have a good vocal coach."

Derek Hough's "Dancing with the Stars" Hiatus

After finding a great deal of success on the hit ABC show, Derek Hough is taking a hiatus from "Dancing with the Stars".

Having taken the crown in Season 11 alongside actress Jennifer Grey, the three-time DWTS winner told People magazine, "I'm taking season 12 off."

The decision comes so that Hough - who has been romantically linked to Cheryl Cole - can make time to tend to lead role duties in a dance movie titled "Cobu 3D".

Set to portray a Big Easy street dancer, the 25-year-old says of his character, "People will see a much edgier side of me and these other styles of dance I'm capable of doing."

And while he's walking away from DWTS for now, Derek will be back on the dancefloor this fall. "I will be making it back to Dancing with the Stars in the fall. I'm just taking a little break and taking this chance to grow and expand a little bit as an artist. It's like I told one of the producers on the show ? I'll come back with a whole new set of skills."

The pop star gives props to her 'sneakymonsters' for discussing what is believed to be the title of one of her Born This Way songs.

With Lady Gaga fans eagerly awaiting the release of Born This Way's first single, which is expected to be the album's title track, details about the rest of the recording are slowly emerging. Late Tuesday, Lady Gaga tweeted to thank her fans for making "Edge of Glory" a Twitter-trending topic. "Edge of Glory" is expected to be one of the track titles on the album.

"Ok. Firstly, yes I love Nutella (with Banana+Wonderbread) who doesn't?" Mother Monster wrote. "Secondly, I can't believe Edge of Glory was trending, sneakymonsters! Thirdly, I need a beer with my name on it cause the last 72hrs gave me a creative hangover."

Gaga apparently has been making references to the song as far back as September, when she tweeted, "I'm on the edge of glory, and I'm counting on a moment of truth. I'm on the edge of glory, and I'm counting on a moment with you."

Meanwhile, her best friends, New York band Semi Precious Weapons, also have been hinting at what fans might expect from Born This Way, which is set for release in May. "Just as she described it. It's amazing, epic," Weapons frontman Justin Tranter explained in a recent Q&A. "The most incredible album I've ever heard."

In addition, Gaga producer RedOne recently put in his two cents about the singer's new material, saying that her forthcoming single was "so beautiful.

Last week, a track off the album that Gaga remixed accompanied a short film by fashion photographer Mariano Vivanco that was shown at a Mugler fashion show in Paris. Discussing the tune, Vivanco said Mugler creative director and Gaga stylist Nicola Formichetti had found "a really articulate way" to describe it — " 'It's techno meets Whitney Houston, in a really good way.' "

Christian Bale Accepts SAG Award With 'Fighter' Alter Ego Dicky Eklund

'Thank you for living the life and thank you for letting me play you,' Bale tells Eklund onstage.
By Aly Semigran

Christian Bale continued his awards-season domination Sunday night (January 30) at the 17th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards, as he emerged victorious in the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role for his work in "The Fighter."

While heading to the podium to accept a statue has been nothing new for Bale over the past few weeks, things were a little different this time as the real-life Dicky Eklund joined him onstage in an unexpected moment. ("Fighter" star/producer Mark Wahlberg revealed moments later that he encouraged Eklund to go up if Bale won.)

After Bale reached the mic to thank voters, Eklund appeared and put his arm around the actor and embraced him with a handshake and a hug. "Dicky! All right!" a surprised Bale said. "This is the original quacker right here!" Eklund, wearing a black tux and a blue bow tie, congratulated Bale and told him, "Good job, Christian."

Bale reciprocated the feelings and told Eklund, "Thank you, mate. Thank you for living the life and thank you for letting me play you." To which Eklund, referring to a song by the Heavy that is featured in "The Fighter," asked, "How you like me now?" Before Eklund exited the stage, Bale responded with a smile, "I like you now."

The actor continued with his speech by thanking his fellow actors, particularly those who worked with him on the film.

"I love acting, I love what we do," Bale said of his profession. "It's so bloody silly at times, isn't it? It's like playing dress-up, and other times it is so meaningful. I just enjoy that so much. We get to walk in other people's shoes," adding, "Life without empathy is no fun at all."

Bale went on to talk to about how young actors often approach him to ask how he broke into the business, to which he told the SAG audience, "I never have any answers whatsoever."

But he said what keeps him motivated as an actor in such a tough industry is, "I find people endlessly fascinating. As long as you can do that, each project seems like something new." Still, he noted that any actor should be so lucky to work with his "Fighter" co-star. "Bumping into Mark Wahlberg ain't bad."

Stone Temple Pilots Reunited In Hopes Of Opening For Led Zeppelin, Bassist Says

'If time allows, there will definitely be new music,' Robert DeLeo adds of STP's future.
By Chris Harris

There are a number of reasons why Stone Temple Pilots decided to reunite after nearly five years apart — some are obvious, and others, not so much.

Of course, the financial windfall of reviving the grunge stalwarts for an extensive U.S. tour was too good to pass up, and bassist Robert DeLeo readily admits as much. And then there are the fans, the ones who had been with STP since the very beginning as well as those who discovered the band only after it first split back in 2003 and who, woefully, have yet to catch the Pilots live.

On a more personal level, though, Stone Temple Pilots' resurrection was purely selfish, and very much an anticipatory (not to mention optimistic) move on the band's part: If, after the months and months of rumors and denials, there ever is a full-on Led Zeppelin reunion tour, STP wanted to be ready to offer their services as an opening act.

"Believe me, that was one of the reasons," laughed DeLeo. "We thought, 'We should get together now, in case Zeppelin does tour.' I'm serious, man. That would be one hell of a bill: STP and Led Zeppelin. I mean, we could play a doghouse, out in the middle of the ocean, and if I got to play with Zeppelin, that would be a highlight of my life."

Yes, DeLeo — and the rest of the band — had several reservations about raising STP from the dead — a feat DeLeo jokingly referred to as "Mission Impossible." For the band's members, the idea of regrouping was terrifying at first, but with time, the boys settled their differences and tried to think positive.

"For me, it was about putting down some of the things that I was used to getting bitten by," explained the bassist — who, with guitar-playing brother Dean DeLeo, has been collaborating with Peter Frampton on material for his next LP. "After you get bitten, it's hard to go back. I wanted to go into this with an open frame of mind and a positive attitude and just have fun with it. We should have fun with it, which God knows we didn't always have with our career when we were younger. If that's all I can say, and that's what I can get out of this reunion, great.

"I think I speak for all of us when I say there's a lot of unfinished business that we didn't get around to the first go," he continued. "Enough time has gone by, and it feels really good to be back. I don't really want to put too much thought into how it feels — I'm just kind of going with it and keeping a good positive attitude about it. I just needed to get over the things that we all needed to get over, and that's been working so far. If everyone shows up and does this thing, I think it's going to be really amazing."

DeLeo claims that during recent rehearsals, STP were "sounding as good as ever," and he credits sobriety as part of the reason the band's in tip-top shape.

"My brother's going on four years of sobriety," he said. "We have a lot more clarity in the band now, and I think with clarity comes appreciation. I saw that the other night, when we played [a secret gig in Los Angeles]. I saw it in my eyes, and in the eyes of the rest of the band. There's a lot more rock in this band now."

As for an STP record, DeLeo is not 100 percent sure that's going to happen. The goal for STP over the next few weeks, he said, is to reacquaint themselves with their songbook and prepare for their return to the road. Once the band is back in that mindset, the bassist said new STP material is very possible.

"I've always got stuff written, and there's always a long list of songs that are always there — it's a matter of timing," DeLeo said. "If time allows, there will definitely be new music. I think it would be silly not to release new music. I'd like to believe we still have a writing relationship, but the first step is getting reacquainted with what we know."

While STP were on hiatus, frontman Scott Weiland teamed up with Velvet Revolver, and the DeLeo brothers joined forces with Filter's Richard Patrick for Army of Anyone — who are now on hiatus after releasing a poorly received self-titled LP. Does DeLeo foresee an AOA reunion somewhere down the line?

"You never know," he said. "It's just like STP — I didn't know if I was going to return. Whether we get back together and do anything, I think we made a great record, bottom line. That's all that matters to me. If we make another one, I want to make sure it's great, and that applies to STP and anything I do. But I was pretty heartbroken over [the feeble response to AOA's album]."

Beyonce Jokes She's Been Pregnant With Concert Special

'I was pregnant with this DVD,' she laughs to MTV News as 'I Am ... World Tour' is set to air Thanksgiving Day on ABC.
By Jocelyn Vena

Beyoncé never really seems to slow down, so when the time came to choose a director for her concert special DVD "I Am ... World Tour," the singer decided to take on those duties too. It's an accomplishment the singer jokes may have sparked those pregnancy rumors.

"I was pregnant with this DVD, yes!" she joked to MTV News.

The DVD hits stores on November 30, but fans can catch the 90-minute "I Am ... World Tour" TV special when it airs on ABC Thanksgiving night at 9:30 p.m. ET. Beyoncé opened up about what it was like to sit in the director's chair.

"Well, I've done some co-directing for music videos [but] this was definitely a big step for me, and I'm so thrilled," she said at the New York City screening for the flick.

Beyoncé said she was completely hands-on, deciding which moments made the final cut and which ones wound up on the cutting-room floor. "It was hard work," she said. "I learned so much. I have a new respect for directors and I think I would like to do more of it."

Her parents, Mathew and Tina Knowles, who also attended the screening over the weekend, said the film gives B the recognition she deserves after years of collaborating on many of her own videos.

"I'm really excited about this because Beyoncé has been making little short films and really helping to direct her videos," Tina told us. "So it's nice that she'll get credit for doing something that she really loves doing and that she's very talented at."

Dad Mathew recalled all of the effort his superstar daughter put into the special. "I'm so proud," he said. "I had an opportunity [to see the film], I've been to Houston with a screening; I've been to Bentonville, [Arkansas], with a screening, and to see the excitement from the audience, what an incredible job Beyoncé did as a director in the editing, I'm just so proud. Hopefully, all the fans go out and get the DVD and soundtrack and look at that ABC special coming on Thanksgiving."

Michael Jackson Doctor Pleads Not Guilty To Involuntary Manslaughter

Conrad Murray's trial slated to start March 28.
By Gil Kaufman

Michael Jackson's former personal physician Dr. Conrad Murray entered a plea of not guilty to charges of involuntary manslaughter in the June 2009 death of the pop star at his arraignment on Tuesday morning (January 25).

According to the Los Angeles Times, when asked by judge Michael Pastor how he pleaded to the charge, Murray said, "Your honor, I am an innocent man." When Pastor interrupted and asked Murray what his plea was, the cardiologist said, "Therefore, I plead not guilty."

The brief hearing in Los Angeles Superior Court ended with Pastor setting a March 28 date for the start of a trial in the case. Murray faces a maximum of four years in prison if convicted, and the Times noted that he surprised the judge by invoking his right to a speedy trial, which meant the case would have to begin by late March. Pastor noted the rarity of a defendant asking to have a speedy trial, then set jury selection for the week of March 28 and said he was inclined to allow television coverage of the trial that the defense expects will last two months.

Lawyers for Murray have maintained his innocence all along, saying he did not do anything that "should have" caused the 50-year-old pop icon's death. The Los Angeles County Coroner's office determined that Jackson died of an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol mixed with a cocktail of other sedatives.

Murray has admitted to administering propofol to Jackson in the hours before the singer's death, but the defense appears to be gearing up to claim that it was Jackson who administered the final, fatal dose of the drug after he woke in a panic from a fitful night of sleep.

During a preliminary hearing earlier this month to determine if there was enough evidence to hold Murray over for trial, the physician's attorneys said that there was evidence Jackson injected or drank a fatal amount of the drug when the doctor was not looking.

Lady Gaga Brings 'Personality' To 'Gnomeo & Juliet' Duet, Elton John Says

'We're just so thrilled she took time out of her incredibly busy schedule to do it,' singer tells 'Access Hollywood' of 'Hello, Hello.'
By James Dinh

Lady Gaga previewed a remixed cut from her new album, Born This Way, last week, and on February 8, the pop star's "Gnomeo & Juliet" duet with Elton John will arrive.

After gushing about Gaga's performance at his White Tie & Tiara Ball charity event last year, John told "Access Hollywood" that he approached the singer about singing on "Hello, Hello."

"We became friends, and I adore her," he said. "I told her about the song, and she said, 'I'd love to do it,' and she did it. We're just so thrilled she took time out of her incredibly busy schedule to do it."

John said Gaga put her own spin on the pop tune, which he produced with longtime partner David Furnish. "She had fun with it and changed it a little bit and brought her own personality to it, so she gave Juliet that personality," he said.

The singer/songwriter was also pleased about another lady who joined him on the soundtrack. "It was always going to be a duet, and it's like, 'Who am I going to sing this with?' " John recalled thinking about "Hello, Hello." "It turned out to be Gaga, and then at the end of the film, I sing with Nelly Furtado, so it's like two great girls on one soundtrack, so I'm thrilled."

Amazon has uploaded a preview of the song, but the clip only includes Elton's part.

It's no surprise that the song has already received praise from one of Gaga's biggest supporters, Perez Hilton. On Monday (January 24), after attending the "Gnomeo & Juliet" world premiere, the blogger wrote: "We are pleased to report that the Elton and Gaga duet, 'Hello Hello,' is an A+. Such a lovely song! It actually reminds us of classic Beatles!"

Nicki Minaj's 'Moment 4 Life' Video: An Acting Coach Weighs In

An acting coach weighs in on the MC's flair for the dramatic.
By Jocelyn Vena

Nicki Minaj is one of the hottest MCs in the game, but in her "Moment 4 Life" video, the singer also shows off her acting abilities, playing her fairy godmother, Martha, and a Roman-inspired, Cinderella-like version of herself. The New York native does have a background in drama, having attended New York's famous LaGuardia High School, and now it seems she's putting some of that training to good use.

So how do her skills rate? "I think she has a great personality that comes through; very vibrant. I love her energy. I love her rapping ability," said Roger Del Pozo, assistant director of admissions at New York Film Academy, who helps handle acting auditions for the school. "As an actress, probably not that subtle, but I don't think that subtlety is going to be her strong point anyways."

Nicki may be a skilled MC, sharpening her acting chops, and Del Pozo offered her some advice: "She should probably be trying to be a little more natural, a little more realistic; it's a little over-the-top," he said. "I'd like to see her a little more subtle, trusting the camera a little bit more."

Of the two characters she plays in the clip, Del Pozo has a favorite: "I think I like the Nicki Minaj character, 'cause she's cuter and you see her natural energy come through a little more," he said. "I think she's funny and she's very expressive. With the right material, she would do a good job. Her straight acting ability, I'd probably give her a 6, and as a just a performer in general, I'd probably give her a 9 or a 10."

In an exclusive interview following the premiere of "Moment 4 Life," Nicki called acting her "favorite part of the video" and explained why Roman is her favorite character to play. "I think I started liking Roman more because everybody else liked Roman," she said. "Everybody wanted to see what outlandish thing he would say next. And I think people are expecting him to do something real crazy on the next album, so I'm having fun prepping him for the sophomore album."

How would you rate Nicki's acting abilities? Let us know in the comments!

Ke$ha Rises From Oddball To Icon In 2010

This year, nobody defied description quite like Ke$ha, the pop oddity who shows no signs of slowing down.
By James Montgomery

Ke$ha
Photo: Venturelli/ Getty Images

In January, when "Tik Tok" was just starting to hit, I described Ke$ha as "a 22-year-old pop confectionary/cautionary tale." By November, when "We R Who We R" debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100, I had crowned her an "outcast icon." The truth probably lies somewhere in between those two statements, but if there's a better way to sum up the pop star's rather incredible rise to fame, I am unaware of it.

Because in 2010, there really was no one else who came close to matching Ke$ha, whether in terms of sheer chart dominance ("Tik Tok," enjoyed the year's longest run at #1, spending nine weeks atop the Hot 100), or pure WTF-ery. She began the year as a belching, squelching, booze-swilling party monster and ended it as perhaps the most unlikely of role models — an unrepentant oddball who not only dared to speak her mind, but defy conventions, too. And through it all, she remained largely unclassifiable, shifting between genres (pop, hip-hop, rock) and personas (dumpster-diving diva, Topanga Canyon bohemian, DayGlo star child) with each successive hit. And because of that, Ke$ha became one of the year's most interesting characters, the kind of pop oddity that leaves critics alternately grasping at adjectives and scratching their heads.

"I think 'What is Ke$ha?' is definitely the question, more than 'Who is Ke$ha?' because the 'What?' is really the thing," New York Times writer Jon Caramanica told MTV News. "When she first came into the game, she was this pop singer with a little bit of a country background, but [doing] this sort of whiny, white-girl rap ... but, if anything, 'Tik Tok' proved there's an entire audience of people who are pop fans, but who have a really high tolerance for rap music. Maybe they're not going to buy a Kanye West record, but they're not unafraid of hip-hop. And with Ke$ha, and her loose, 'I don't give a f---' approach to making these songs resonates with the loose, 'I don't give a f---' approach of the fans in listening to the songs. They hear something of themselves in her."

Of course, Ke$ha suffered for her, uh, art, becoming one of the year's most popular punching bags — particularly following a pair of bizarre performances on "Saturday Night Live" — but as the year draws to a close, her grip on the pop world seems to be permanent. Not only is she the unlikeliest of stars, she's also one of the most persistent ... and love her or hate her, you've got to admit that she made 2010 just a bit more bearable, even if it was with her willingness to push the boundaries of absurdity. Well, her songs were pretty great, too. And she did it entirely her way.

"I think Ke$ha's definitely gone way past her 15 minutes of fame, [but] the appeal with her is that there's an honesty," Noah Callahan-Bever, editor in chief of Complex magazine, said. "In a market of totally prefab pop stuff, there's almost a sloppiness to her whole persona, and I think that realness appeals to people. I think it doesn't hurt that she works with the best producer in pop music, either," he said, referring to right-hand man Dr. Luke.

In 2010, thanks to that winning combination of pitch-perfect pop and pure, unfiltered weirdness, Ke$ha pretty much conquered the world. She won over fans and earned begrudging respect from the critics. And she wore dead animals on her head. Wherever she goes in 2011, I'll follow. And I'll likely be just as perplexed as the rest of you.

Do you expect Ke$ha's party to stop or keep rocking in 2011? Let us know in the comments.

Lady Gaga Previews Born This Way Track

Remix of the song closes Thierry Mugler fashion week show in Paris.

As promised, Lady Gaga previewed a new song during the Thierry Mugler Paris Men's Fashion Week show. Gaga remixed a Born This Way track especially for the show, for which she acted as musical director.

Possible Haus of Gaga member Jay tweeted a link to a YouTube video of the song playing during the models' final walk. "Watch this and f---ing dance," Jay tweeted.

Reflecting the collection, the song is pulsating and dark. Although the audio is muffled, over a throbbing beat, Gaga's voice is heard repeating a phrase in German, which YouTube users translated as: "I'm absolutely clear/ As long as I'm a monster/ I wish we all could be blind/ It would be easier out there."

Gaga was reportedly not at the show. A short film featuring the remixed track, shot by Mariano Vivanco, will appear on Mugler.com and AOL at noon on Thursday (January 19).

Prior to the show's kickoff, Gaga expressed her excitement about the collaboration. She wrote, "MUGLER PARIS SHOW begins in 2 hours. I am so excited my fashion bones are rattling. The garments + music are poetic intoxication."

Mugler is helmed by Gaga's stylist, Nicola Formichetti. In an interview prior to the show, Formichetti described how the song fits with his collection for the legendary fashion house.

"It's very, very hard, but pop at the same time. It's really amazing," he said about the track. "When I heard it, I said, 'That's Mugler.' She's remixing it especially for the show."

Of working with his longtime pal Gaga, he added, "It's me and her just having fun and getting very inspired from the idea of Mugler. She's very much involved, more in the early stages.

"I want people to think, 'OK, there's something new happening.' I want people to get excited again, not only fashion people," he added about his work on the brand. "I'm not here to recreate what [Mugler] did. It was perfect for the time. I'm going to do something for today and the future."

This isn't the first time Gaga presented new music at a fashion show. She premiered "Bad Romance" in 2009 at the Alexander McQueen show.

Justin Bieber Debuts New 'Never Say Never' Poster

Teen sensation is shown between his Canadian hometown and the big city in movie poster.
By Kara Warner

As most of Justin Bieber's die-hard fans already know, the movie event of February is quickly approaching. Bieber's first full-length feature film, "Never Say Never," hits theaters in about three weeks, on February 11, just in time for Valentine's Day weekend. MTV News has been keeping up with the Biebs since he announced plans for the big-screen project back in August.

On Monday (January 24), Paramount Pictures released a new poster for the film, which shows the 16-year-old standing tall in the middle of a street, seemingly stuck between two worlds — on the left side is his hometown of Stratford in Ontario, Canada, which is shown in black-and-white, with a sign in the background that reads "Population: 32,000"; on the right side, Bieber is standing next to the crowded New York City skyline, which is depicted in full color. The "Baby" singer is shown dressed in all black, including a black jacket that zips up off-center, black jeans and black, unlaced high-tops. The tagline reads: "Find out what's possible if you never give up."

It's a nice change from the first poster, which just showed Bieber's profile and that famous, perfectly side-swept hair, partially hidden by a hoodie. It's interesting that the "big city" shown in the new poster is New York City, however, rather than Atlanta, where Bieber moved when he was just starting out after signing with manager Scooter Braun and linking up with ATL superstar Usher.

Also worth noting are two new clips and partial trailers from the movie, called "Every Stage" and "Underdog," respectively. Both clips show a few adorable home videos of Bieber learning to play the drums around age 3, followed by shots of what his life is like now, including screaming fans, huge sold-out concerts, his friendship with Usher, etc.

What do you think of the new poster and videos? Have you already bought your tickets to see "Never Say Never"? Tell us in the comments!

Ke$ha Rises From Oddball To Icon In 2010

This year, nobody defied description quite like Ke$ha, the pop oddity who shows no signs of slowing down.
By James Montgomery

Ke$ha

After the Academy Award nominations were announced on Tuesday morning, "Burlesque" star Cher made it clear she wasn't going to be celebrating with the nominees.

The icon wasn't pleased with the lack of recognition for her Diane Warren-penned tune "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me" from the flashy musical, and she took to Twitter to express her frustration. While it was overlooked by the Academy, the "Burlesque" song recently scored a Golden Globe for Best Original Song.

"We didn't get a nomination 4 best song ! That sucks ! Diane's song Is so beautiful !" Cher wrote. "It's hard to understand how u win." Then she referred to her Globes win: "The Golden Globe 4 BEST SONG & not even get nominated by the OSCARS? Oh well it is..what it is ,,,,the sun is still shining !"

Baffled by the snub, Cher even contemplated whether it was her role as the song's performer that impacted its Oscar odds, writing, "maybe she would have had a better chance if someone else was singing it ?!! IT JUST CANT B HER SONG I"

The Golden Globes are typically seen as a good forecast for the Oscars, but the awards aren't a guarantee of Oscar love. A handful of stars from Oscar-nominated movies weren't recognized by the Academy, including Mila Kunis ("Black Swan"), Andrew Garfield ("The Social Network") and Julianne Moore ("The Kids Are All Right").

Miley Cyrus 'Excited' For Fans To See 'So Undercover'

'I've had an awesome time shooting this movie,' actress/singer says in video message to fans.
By Jocelyn Vena

Considering she spent years playing a girl who led two lives on "Hannah Montana," Miley Cyrus' upcoming role as an FBI agent who goes "So Undercover" at a college sorority should be an easy transition. Miley recently took to YouTube to update fans on all the fun she had shooting the comedy/action flick. She even spilled the beans on a special actor who joined the movie's "entourage" for a cameo.

" 'Sup guys? It's Miley in my trailer hanging out on the set of 'So Undercover,' " she told fans in the video. "This is actually our last week and a half, which is crazy."

So, what sort of antics have Miley and the cast, including Kelly Osbourne, been up to on the set? "I can't believe how quick it's gone," she said. "We had a really good time. We actually just had a wrap party because the girls are leaving 'cause now it's getting into the relationship of me and my dad. So all the sorority scenes are coming to an end, so all my girls are leaving me.

"We've been working so hard," she continued. "Literally, I'm in every scene except one or two, so we've been here working really long hours. It was nice to have a night just to be able to hang out, all the crew and all the cast, to be able to hang out as friends, not in just a work environment."

That cast includes Jeremy Piven, who apparently has a secret part in the flick. "They let me and Jeremy Piven, who plays one of our characters ... can't tell you who, I'm not allowed. But Jeremy's in this movie, and so he got up on the drums and we played 'I Love Rock 'n' Roll.' "

Bottom line, although the film has been a lot of hard work, Miley thinks it's all been worth it. "I've had an awesome time shooting this movie," she said. "I'm excited for you guys to see it, really digging it. I wanted to tell you guys I love you ... peace."

Britney Spears is hard at work on her "Hold It Against Me" video. The pop diva is currently in rehearsals for the clip, set to shoot this week. And choreographer Brian Friedman couldn't be more excited to share with fans all the hard work he and Brit are putting into the video's smooth moves.

"Just finished with @britneyspears & the dancers & I'm PUMPED!" he tweeted on Tuesday. "Day 1 was INCREDIBLE! #HIAMkills!"

He previously tweeted, "Nothing beats waking up @ 7am for rehearsal! LOL not so much! Warm up dancers. ... It's Full Out! ... Thrilled to get back in the studio tomorrow and Lock in 'HIAM.' ... It's getting closer peeps!"

Friedman has said that Spears is taking some risks in this video. "This is a dance video. Rehearsals can get pretty rough," he explained. "[It's] the hardest dance track that she's ever put out. ... It's infectious. The beat gets inside of you, and just when you think you know it, it takes a turn. The song, in particular, is one of my favorite songs I've heard off the bat. I'm really excited about choreographing it."

The clip will be directed by music-video vet Jonas Åkerlund, who has a reputation for controversial clips and has worked with the likes of Madonna and Lady Gaga. Spears tweeted the news, writing, "Dance, dance, and more dance. Getting ready to shoot the video for HIAM this week with Jonas Åkerlund. Super excited!"

In addition to working on the video for the track, Spears has also been seen at a recording studio putting the finishing touches on the album. Manager Adam Leber tweeted this tease for the fans, "Amazing day in the studio today. You guys should be very excited. This album is going to be incredible. Dare I say the best yet?"

Michael Jackson Doctor Conrad Murray To Be Arraigned

Murray to head to trial in death of Jackson following Tuesday hearing.
By Gil Kaufman

Cardiologist Dr. Conrad Murray, the only person charged in the June 2009 death of Michael Jackson, will be arraigned on Tuesday morning (January 25) on an involuntary manslaughter charge. Murray, who was serving as the 50-year-old pop icon's personal physician at the time, is expected to plead not guilty in the case.

According to CNN, the hearing in front of Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor, is only slated to last a few minutes. While Murray has the right to demand a trial within 60 days, it is not expected that a date will be set for one on Tuesday.

After more than a week of testimony, Pastor ruled during a preliminary hearing in early January that there was enough evidence to bring Murray's case to trial. In the meantime, Murray remains free on $75,000 bond, but Pastor blocked the doctor from using his California medical license until the trial is completed.

"Michael is not with us today because of an utterly inept, incompetent, reckless doctor — the defendant Conrad Murray," Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney David Walgren said in his final arguments in the preliminary hearing, where a series of witnesses recounted Murray's actions during the minutes and hours before and after Jackson's death. The King of Pop died as a result of what the Los Angeles County coroner's office called acute propofol poisoning, a reference to a powerful surgical anesthetic that the singer reportedly requested as a sleep aid to combat chronic insomnia.

While prosecutors appear to be building a case that Murray acted recklessly in attending to Jackson in the singer's final hours, CNN reported that the doctor's lawyers appeared satisfied with the results of the preliminary hearing thanks to some testimony they got from prosecution witnesses that might help raise some reasonable doubt about their client's guilt at trial.

"I think the prosecution is going to change their tactics in this case," defense lawyer J. Michael Flanagan said after the preliminary hearing. "It's not the same as what they gave in opening statements." The defense reportedly is set to argue that it was Jackson himself who administered the final, fatal dose of propofol after waking in a panic from a fitful night of sleep. One of the prosecution's expert witnesses in the case admitted under cross-examination that he made a math mistake and that the recalculation supports the defense theory that Jackson may have given himself the dose of propofol that killed him.

CNN reported that Dr. Richard Ruffalo, an anesthesiologist hired by the prosecution, was the last witness to take the stand and his admission about making a mistake on the calculation of the level of propofol in Jackson's stomach fluid reportedly elicited gasps from the members of Jackson's family who were sitting in the hearing room.

Murray's lawyers have suggested that a frustrated Jackson may have poured the anesthetic — which is administered intravenously — into his juice bottle while the doctor was out of his bedroom. "Now it doesn't make sense unless he ingested it orally in a huge amount," Ruffalo testified. The anesthesiologist added that Murray could still be at fault for leaving dangerous drugs near a patient who was allegedly addicted to sedatives and sleep aids.

"It's like leaving a syringe next to a heroin addict," Ruffalo stated. "If he's not getting what he wants, when you leave the room he might reach for it himself ... Either way, it doesn't matter. He abandoned his patient and didn't resuscitate appropriately." Ruffalo said Murray should have anticipated that Jackson, who had previously asked to inject himself with the drug, might potentially administer it to himself. "He gets upset if he doesn't get his milk," he said, explaining that Jackson often referred to propofol as his "milk."

In addition, the pathologist who conducted Jackson's autopsy acknowledged it was possible, though improbable, that the singer gave himself the fatal propofol dose. Speaking to police two days after Jackson's death, Murray told investigators that a sleepless Jackson had begged him for more propofol on the day he died. The King of Pop was in the midst of a grueling series of rehearsals for his planned "This Is It" comeback shows at London's O2 Arena at the time of his death.

A civil lawsuit filed last year by Jackson's mother against the producer of the concerts, AEG Live, alleged that the company had warned the entertainer several weeks before he died that if he missed any more rehearsals they were going to "pull the plug" on the gigs, which the cash-strapped Jackson was depending on to revive his stalled career.

Did Naya Rivera and Chord Overstreet Hook Up?

Did Naya Rivera and Chord Overstreet Hook Up?

There's nothing the writers of Glee like more than a love triangle -- and it seems to be rubbing off on the cast members! According to E!, two members of New Directions were hooking up in Vegas this past weekend. And one of them might have been doing it to make a third cast member jealous. Intrigued? Read on!

Naya Rivera, who plays bratty cheerleader Santana on Glee, celebrated her twenty-fourth birthday on January 12th. For her birthday party, Rivera invited friends to the Bank nightclub at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. The cast members who joined her in the VIP section included Cory Monteith (Finn), Kevin McHale (Artie), Amber Riley (Mercedes), Heather Morris (Brittany) … and Chord Overstreet (Sam), who had some extra hugs for the birthday girl.

"They were all over each other," said a partygoer of Naya and Chord, 21. Another guest confirmed: "Yeah, they hooked up. Who knows where it will go."

Nobody would blame those two good-looking kids for getting together -- but does Naya have an ulterior motive? Rivera dated another co-star --Mark Salling, who plays Puck -- in 2010. The rumor is that they had been hooking up for months before Rivera realized that Salling was seeing other women. Rivera, who had wrongly assumed that they were exclusive, allegedly keyed his car and egged his house in a jealous rage. In August, Salling and Rivera posted a jokey Twit pic in an attempt to squash the story -- but insiders still claim that Rivera went off the deep end.

One of E!'s sources says that Naya went after Chord to make her ex jealous, since Mark and Chord are buddies.

"Funny thing is, [Mark] couldn't care less," says the source.

He also wasn't around to see it; both Salling and Lea Michele were notably absent from the festivities. Wonder if Glee's spring episodes will have as much drama as the cast generates off-camera?

Which Glee cast members should hook up in real life? Chime in below!

Michael Jackson's Home Contained A Dozen Bottles Of Propofol

An L.A. County Coroner's Office investigator testifies during Dr. Conrad Murray's preliminary hearing that a litany of drugs were found at the residence.

The role of propofol has loomed large in Michael Jackson's sudden 2009 death, and according to an investigator, copious amounts of the surgical anesthetic were found in the superstar's home.

During the latest round of testimony at the preliminary manslaughter hearing for Jackson's physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, on Friday (January 7), an investigator for the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office testified that a dozen bottles of propofol were discovered in Jackson's home, according to TMZ. One of the two bottles found in the singer's bedroom was empty, and investigators also found a slew of at least 10 other types of medication, including lorazepam, hydrocodone and lidocaine.

The mother of one of Murray's children, Nicole Alvarez, also testified and said the doctor sent several packages to her home from April to June 2009. While the packages' contents were not revealed in court, TMZ has reported that the parcels contained propofol and were sent from Murray's Las Vegas pharmacy.

Another one of Murray's girlfriends, Sade Anding, gave notable testimony. Anding said she received a five-minute phone call from Murray around 12:30 p.m., during which he abruptly stopped talking after exchanging brief small talk. Anding said she heard "coughing and voices," and the line sounded as if he had placed the phone in his pocket. However, according to phone records, the only time Murray called Anding that day was at 11:51 a.m., which would have meant that Murray waited about 25 minutes to call 911 once he recognized Jackson needed emergency assistance.

Murray has pleaded not guilty to a felony charge of involuntary manslaughter, and his lawyers are reportedly planning to claim Jackson killed himself by self-administering a lethal dose of propofol.

'Glee' Stars Stayed Up All Night For 'Thriller' Cover

'It was probably one of the most physical numbers that we've ever done,' Cory Monteith says.
By James Dinh

"Glee" stars film their "Thriller" performance

When "Glee" returns from hiatus in the high-profile post-Super Bowl slot, it's returning in a big way, covering Michael Jackson's "Thriller." On Tuesday, the cast spoke to "Access Hollywood" about remaking the iconic tune, which will reportedly be mashed up with another yet-to-be-revealed hit.

"It was a huge production. We we're shooting that until 6:30 in the morning," Cory Monteith told "AH" at the Television Critics Association press tour. "We shot all night, and it was probably one of the most physical numbers that we've ever done. I was lifting Naya Rivera at one point in the dance. It was really active. We had the whole USC band wrapped in to this number as you can see in the photos. It was awesome."

Photos of the cast filming "Thriller" surfaced on the Internet recently, depicting a prom night-turned-zombie affair. Jackson's tune is just one of the many hits to be covered in the broadcast. Other songs featured in the post-Super Bowl episode include hits by the Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry and Lady Antebellum.

Kevin McHale revealed that Jackson is his "favorite artist ever" and that he has been continuously requesting to cover a tune by the late King of Pop. "I've been pushing very obnoxiously for a very, very long time, so I'm beyond thrilled that we do Michael Jackson," said the actor.

Like the iconic music video, the "Glee" cover was an extravagant production, which was fitting for star Dianna Agron, who couldn't help smile throughout filming.

"The whole night, everybody kept saying, 'Why are you laughing so much? Why are you smiling so much?' " she said. "I was just in my element. I was in huge makeup, huge hair, huge costume, the stuff that I loved the most, which is why I loved 'Rocky [Horror Picture Show]' so much."

Matthew Morrison isn't in the number, but he watched it being shot. "We actually shot it, like, a couple nights ago," Morrison told "AH." "I actually went out to see it. We shot it in Long Beach and at a high school that we used their football field at. It was stunning. It's so weird with this show. We keep outdoing ourselves. It's like, 'What is there left to do?' This number is just fantastic."
