Taylor Swift may not have been lucky in love yet, but that doesn't mean she's giving up hope.
The singing star, 21, says she's open to whatever possibilities come her way. "There are no rules when it comes to love," Swift tells InStyle. "I just try to let love surprise me because you never know who you're going to fall in love with. You never know who's going to come into your life -- and for me, when I picture the person I want to end up with, I don't think about what their career is, or what they look like. I picture the feeling I get when I'm with them."
Swift, who has dated such hotties as Jake Gyllenhaal, John Mayer and Taylor Lautner, says she's not necessarily attracted to a certain type. When asked about having a thing for bad boys, she responds, "Well, they start out nice!"
And even when it doesn't work out in real life, Swift tries to make sure her relationships end on a good note, literally. "I'm really a daydreamer and a hopeful person," she says. "When it comes to 'happily ever after,' I always have a tendency to write a happy ending to my songs. That's probably wishful thinking on my part."
Swift, who's now traveling the world for her 98-date Speak Now tour, also is staying busy in other arenas. She voices an animated character in The Lorax, a Dr. Seuss movie set for release next year, and also is preparing to launch a fragrance for Elizabeth Arden this fall.
"I have this really high priority on happiness and finding something to be happy about," she says about her future.
With a sunny attitude like hers, we have no doubt that Swift will find her real-life "happily ever after," no matter how many songs she has to write to get there.
