He's not officially part of the family yet, but Kris Humphries has figured out the first rule of being a Kardashian: do everything with style! When the NBA player proposed to girlfriend Kim Kardashian, he pulled out all the stops with candles, rose petals, and of course, that breathtaking ring. In a Tuesday night appearance on The Tonight Show, Kardashian told Jay Leno all the details of her new fiance's swoon-worthy proposal. (Watch below!)
Kardashian swears she knew Humphries was "the one" at about "month two" of their six-month-long relationship. By spring, she says they had already talked about marriage so much that it seemed like it was definitely in the cards. Still, she couldn't figure out when he ws planning on popping the question! In April, she explains, "It was my mom and Bruce's 20 year anniversary, so I was like, 'He's not going to outshine them!'" Pretty soon, she started to wonder: "Is this really going to happen?"
Then came what Kardashian describes as a "totally random day" in May. She tells Leno that she arrived home in Los Angeles to what seemed to be an empty house.
"I didn't think he was home," recalls the reality star, "and all my furniture in my bedroom was moved and I have this big white rug and it said 'Will You Marry Me' with red rose petals... I walked in and it was candles everywhere and he was there on one knee."
An ecstatic Kardashian told Leno, "You envision this moment your whole life. You think 'Oh my God, I'm going to cry, I'm going to scream.'" Instead, she said, she just gasped at her transformed bedroom, and squeaked, "Yes!" to the question being asked on her white rug.
Many wonder if the relationship will last, given the whirlwind nature of their romance, but in the Kardashian camp, life is bliss. Kardashian has gushed about Humphries, and her family are all gearing up for the upcoming nuptials (not to mention the new season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians). Sister Khloe Kardashian jokes that her sister will definitely be a bridezilla, and minor details -- like who is going to be maid of honor -- will obviously need to be hashed out. For now, Kris Humphries' romantic proposal should definitely be an inspiration to men everywhere!
