Kanye West Breaks Down During Coachella Performance

Kanye West Breaks Down During Coachella Performance

Kanye West is still trying to come to terms with the death of his mother, Donda West. At the Coachella Music Festival this past weekend, the hip-hop artist broke down as he performed a tribute to his dearly-departed mom, who passed away in 2007.

"This is the most important show to me since my mom passed," West told the crowd Sunday night.

In the middle of performing hits from his latest album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, the 33-year-old opened up.

"When I made the album, I was in a really dark place in my life...losing everything that was dear to me," he told the audience. "To still love me after everything you've seen me say on TV...to still have fans...I really appreciate you all tonight, because I'm only trying to say and do what's right."

"I'm not the best singer in the world," West continued, before revealing that music was the most authentic vehicle for him to convey his feelings. "So many times I thought about not being here, but you make it all worth it."

Kanye put on an elaborate show filled with dancers and fireworks, but closed the set by himself. Wiping away tears, West performed "Hey Mama" before stating, "This show is dedicated to you, Mama," and leaving the stage.

Kanye is such a tortured soul. While he was always a cocky personality, he seemed to fall into a very angry place (just ask Taylor Swift) after his mom passed. Here's hoping he's finally finding some peace.
